It was only when I began to waver in the footsteps of Jesus Christ that the battle began; because before that I was just a dead fish floating with the current, I was as blind as the alcoholic before he decides to put down the bottle, and I trusted my own thoughts no matter how many times they destroyed my existence - I did not take up the battle because I did not know about it.

Going against the current has probably been the easiest because I have never felt that I fit in, but it has also hurt the most because I have always wanted to fit in; and if I could ask to be spared anything, it would have been just that; because the current is strong. In addition to the bottle, the fleshly desires are many, because the flesh seeks "good" things that are against the Spirit; and you find a lot in 39 years.

When I had it thrown in my face - that's how it felt - that the majority of my thoughts were not from myself, I felt like a question mark; but I did not dismiss that claim but let it remain in me as an unanswered question. And as I faltered further and became more and more aware, it became obvious, both when I noted my thoughts and through scripture, that the majority of our thoughts do not come from ourselves.

It says in Proverbs 26 that “*He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is delivered.*”, thoughts come from the heart it says in Matthew 15:19\. And in 1 Corinthians 1:24 it says that Christ is the wisdom of God.

When we are born again in the Spirit we are free from the flesh as long as we live in the Spirit, but that does not mean that the devil stops fighting with us, quite the opposite.

In Ephesians 6:11-12 it says, “*Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of this darkness of this world, and against spiritual wickedness in high places.*”

And in 6:16 it says, “*In addition, taking the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one.*”

These are arrows of thought that come at us and they are burning with temptations, emotions, and all the other tricks the devil uses to make us go astray. And the devil only comes to steal, kill, and destroy, he is the father of lies and knows no other; he hates the children of God, the truth, and love.

But if we take the fight in faith and with Jesus, then we have already won - but the fight must be fought! Stay grounded in the word, in prayer and on the narrow path.

God bless you!
